PUNTA GORDA —Property taxes could be going up by around 15% in Punta Gorda. This would be the largest increase in almost 10 years.
This Wednesday the City Council will discuss a resolution regarding the increase. If approved, a second public hearing would be held in September. The increase if approved would change the millage rate from 3.4337 to 3.95, along with a roll back rate of 3.3203.
Taxable value would equal to a $1 tax for every $1,000 of property tax.
Those interested can attend Wednesday’s meeting begins at 9 a.m. at Council Chambers, 326 W. Marion Ave. in Punta Gorda, or view online live on the city’s YouTube page or at: bit.ly/2YiCqnY
