A North Port caregiver convicted of attempted murder has been sentenced to 38 years in the beating of a World War II veteran last year. 47-year-old Elena Erickson was a long term caregiver of Nicholas Tristiano, who survived the beating and is now 93. Police say the two argued on April 15, 2016 and Erickson attacked Nicholas with his own oxygen tank. He was found by paramedics in a pool of blood and urine in his room. The maximum possible sentence was 45 years in prison.
