A Port Charlotte woman stepped in front of a Motorcycle last night as she attempted to cross U.S. 41 Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm.

The accident occurred near Harbor Boulevard when she stepped in front of a motorcycle in the southbound lane, a report stated. The motorcycle overturned and hit the woman, who was taken to a local hospital where she later died. 

Both the operator of the motorcycle and the passenger — a 52-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman, both of Port Charlotte — were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The incident is under investigation.
