A former Port Charlotte school teacher will be spending the next nine years in prison after being found guilty of intentionally hitting and killing a motorcyclist.

62-year old Stephen Lawrence was sentenced last week to 111 months -just over 9 years- in prison in connection with the death of 43-year old Aaron Wesley.

Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol say Lawrence intentionally backed his SUV out of his driveway into the path of Wesley’s motorcycle back in May of 2017.
