A Port Charlotte man has been charged with vehicular homicide. Officials say 61-year old Stephen Lawrence intentionally backed his 2001 Chevrolet SUV from his driveway across from Fireside Street and into the grass shoulder, directly into the path of an approaching motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle, 43-year old Aaron Wesley of Port Charlotte, was killed in the crash. Lawrence had initially claimed he did not see the motorcycle approaching southbound. A further investigation by the FHP found otherwise, leading to the charges.
