Police Investigate Boater Dispute Under Barron Collier Bridge

PUNTA GORDA, FL – The Punta Gorda Police Department and The Coast Guard are actively investigating an incident involving a dispute between two adult boaters that took place under the Barron Collier Bridge on April 1, 2025. A police report has been filed, and both the Punta Gorda Police and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are conducting an investigation.

The incident has attracted significant attention on social media, leading to an influx of calls to the police department’s dispatch center. Authorities are urging the public to refrain from calling to report the situation, as it is already under investigation. Additional calls could delay emergency responses to other critical situations.

The Coast Guard received a report of a dispute between an alleged Coast Guard credentialed mariner and another boater in the U.S. Coast Guard Sector St Petersburg area of operations. The Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
