Florida is now second in the country when it comes to airport passengers. Florida recorded a nearly 4 percent growth in its overall outbound passenger count, from 78.07 million in 2015 to 81.17 million last year. While Miami, West Palm, Jacksonville, and Pensacola’s airports all saw fewer traffic in 2016, Punta Gorda saw the single biggest year to year increase of any airport in the state. Passenger traffic was up a whopping 32 percent from 2015 to 2016, nearly double the growth of any other other Florida airport.
