The daughter of a Manatee County woman and her boyfriend charged in her mother’s murder arrived in Manatee County over the weekend after being extradited from West Virginia. 21-year old Kayla Colyer and 26-year old Roy Nichols Jr., 26, were taken separately to the jail two weeks after their arrest. Freeman was killed on March 14 at her Palmetto home, allegedly by Nichols. He told police something she said “set him off.” He then allegedly hit her, causing her to fall, hit her head, and bleed out. Colyer told detectives she knew her boyfriend was going to kill her mother. Colyer faces charges of accessory to murder after the fact, while Nichols faces a second-degree murder charge.
