The local and statewide results are in from the Florida Sheriff’s Association’s “Operation Pill Drop.” That’s a program encouraging citizens to properly and safely dispose of unwanted medications from their households. The goal is to keep potentially dangerous drugs out of the hands of children or adults, while also providing an environmentally safe method of medication disposal. Between October 16th and November 12th, Florida Sheriffs were successful in taking in over 66-hundred pounds of prescription drugs, including 348 pounds in Charlotte County and 179 pounds in Sarasota County.
