Officials are investigating a fatal crash on US 41 near West Villages Parkway that happened just as the Braves game was letting out.
Police say a driver heading south on US-41 failed to slow down as Sarasota County Sheriff’s Deputies were manning traffic control. That caused a chain reaction crash involving two other cars and a sheriff’s office motorcycle.
Officials say the person who died was a passenger in the car that caused the initial crash. The driver of that car was airlifted to an area hospital in criticial condition.
Police have not released the names of those involved.
