There will be more officers at schools in Manatee County today as the state and county continue to try and be better prepared in the wake of the Parkland shooting. Nearly three dozen officers with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Bradenton Police and Palmetto Police will be on campuses to ensure student safety. There is one student resource officer in every elementary and middle school and two instead rather than one officer in high schools within Unincorporated Manatee County. The cost to the district is roughly $40,000.
