A domestic disturbance 911 call from a residence in Englewood Sunday evening culminated in an officer-involved fatal shooting. Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell said a male making threats against deputies could be hear on the 911 call. He said when deputies arrived, a male subject appeared out of the woods holding two knives, one of them quite large. Ignoring orders to stop, the man, identified as Jacob Taulbee, advanced toward the deputies with the knives raised. At that point, one of the deputies fired several rounds, striking Taulbee. Prummel said the deputies used their officer down kits, but Taulbee did not survive. Per department policy, the deputies were placed on leave, and the state attorney’s office is investigating.
