FHP PRESS RELEASE – SARASOTA COUNTY – FATAL
A North Port woman, 70, died in a crash on southbound I-75 near Laurel Road. The driver, a 72-year-old North Port woman, swerved left to avoid traffic, entered the median, and collided with the tree line. The driver sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The southbound lanes were closed for an hour, with only one lane reopened during the investigation. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
