A 55-year old North Port woman was arrested and charged Tuesday after police found more than 80 animals living in her home.

Animal services was called to the house, where they found a number of pets in poor health, including at least one cat.

Police say Shirley Duncan had 55 cats, 23 mice, 3 ferrets and 2 dogs. She now faces charges of aggravated cruelty and abandonment and at last check remained behind bars on $2,000 bond.
