A road rage incident in North Port ended in gunfire. Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputies say the dispute between two men happened Friday morning at the intersection of U.S. 41 and River Road. Deputies arrived to find the victim and 24-year-old Carlos Echeverria-Pena of Rotonda West. Echeverria-Pena allegedly punched the other man through his car window. The other man picked up his licensed firearm and shot twice in self-defense. Echeverria-Pena sustained to gunshot wounds and was treated at a hospital, then he was booked into the Sarasota County jail where detectives charged him with Burglary of a Conveyance with Battery. On Sunday, he was released on $15,000 bond.
