Since the city of North Port changed up their recycling totes, city officials say recycling is up by nearly 15 percent. Nearly 56,000 new wheeled and lidded totes were delivered to city residents aboout four months ago. Each home was given two totes- one for paper, the other for glass, plastic, and cans. The city says the new program is also shortening the time it takes crews to pick them up, which means less fuel, and more cost savings.
