In an effort to be more accessible to the public, the North Port City Commission will now meet half the time at night. Commission meetings have been normally held twice a month at 10 a.m. But three newly-elected North Port commissioners campaigned on a promise of more evening sessions and the panel has voted unanimously to schedule one meeting a month at 1 p.m. and the other at 6 p.m. That will be on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The new schedule takes effect in January.
