NORTH PORT – North Port has proposed a resolution for an Emergency Housing Declaration that would allow FEMA to place larger mobile homes on single-family lots.

The declaration would allow for the mobile homes to be put on a lot providing that the existing home on the lot has been declared substantially damaged.

The resolution must still be approved by the City Commission when it meets on May 23.

The move comes after board first refused a direct plea from Federal Emergency Management Agency officials at an April meeting to allow for the larger units on single-family lots.
