Police are searching for a North Port man that they are calling a habitual traffic offender. Officials say 30-year old Lee Lyman Bassett was driving a Ford pickup northbound on US-41 around 11 Friday night when he rear ended a Chevy SUV. The crash caused the Chevy’s driver to lose control, leave the roadway, and flip over. Troopers said Bassett then fled the scene on foot. The driver of the Chevy and two passengers received minor injuries in the crash. A third passenger, a 13-year-old boy, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition.
