A North Port man wanted by police in connection with a hit and run crash along US-41 over the weekend in Ruskin has been arrested. Manatee County deputies arrested 30-year old Lee Lyman Bassett on unrelated charges. FHP troopers had been searching for Bassett after he allegedly ran on foot from a crash Saturday night that seriously injured a 13-year old boy. Officials say Bassett rear-ended an SUV, causing it to leave the roadway and roll over. Bassett had been labeled as a “habitual traffic offender” by the Florida Highway Patrol.
