A North Port man has died after he stopped to rescue an alleged drunk driver from a crash on I-75 in Hillsborough County on Sunday morning.
Police say 59-year-old Wesley Weysham, an off-duty firefighter and paramedic with Sarasota County, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the FHP, the alleged drunk driver, 32-year old George Evans stopped his car in the inside lane when another car rear-ended him.
Weysham was driving past the accident when he stopped to help Evans. That’s when a 3rd car hit the wreckage, causing a large fire.
