A man who led Punta Gorda on a high-speed chase has been tossed in jail and charged with fleeing to avoid a police officer and leaving the scene of a crash. North Port resident Nickolas Calvano was in Punta Gorda on April 15th when an officer tried to make a traffic stop. Calvano fled the scene and crashed through a fence at the Hounds on Henry dog park. The vehicle was then abandoned, but the police found the owner of the vehicle who confirmed Calvano was driving the vehicle. Police saw drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
