The City of North Port has a new leader, but the interim tag hasn’t been removed on its city manager. Peter Lear may not have to worry about that much longer. City commissioners have expressed their pleasure with how Lear has handled himself in the few weeks he has been on the job. Lear worked under former city manager John Lewis, who the commission liked as well. Lear makes $140 thousand per year, plus a monthly car allowance. Initially, the commission wanted to conduct a national search, but that change.
