Please continue to stay home if you don’t have to travel. If you have to go out, please use extreme caution. Several traffic signals are not operational. In addition, downed powerlines, nails, debris and ponding in roads could cause serious problems for you or your car. If you come across ponding on our roadways, don’t drive through it.

Trash and Recycling

The Solid Waste Division will be operating this week with the following schedule:

  • NO collection today, Thursday, 10/10
  • Regularly scheduled Wednesday 10/9 collection will occur on Friday, 10/11. This will be garbage only, no recycling.
  • Regularly scheduled Thursday and Friday collection will occur on Saturday, 10/12. This will be garbage only, no recycling.
  • Solid Waste will resume regular garbage collection schedule starting Monday, 10/14.

On Monday, Oct. 14, normal trash and recycling collection schedules will resume.

Bulk pickups, debris and yard waste

Bulk pickups are currently paused, and scheduling will resume on Monday, Oct. 21.

Thankfully, the City of North Port did not see the devastating impacts of Hurricane Milton as previously forecasted. Essential debris management response resources are needed throughout the Southeast to address damage from Hurricane Helene in the Southwest, therefore the Department of Public Works will be managing storm debris internally. Yard waste pickup will be completed in conjunction with normal operations over the next several weeks.

Residents with manageable vegetative debris such as branches, twigs and leaves can place it in your store-bought container or our solid waste 95-gallon brown container, tie it in 4-foot lengths, or place it in brown paper bags for collection. Any small piles of vegetative debris will not be collected.

Those who place large piles of vegetative material on the road, please call for an estimate or go online to request a scheduled bulk collection by using your two free bulk pickups per fiscal year, with a limit of 5 cubic yards each.

For your convenience, please visit our Solid Waste Online Form Center for all of our Solid Waste services, at NorthPortFL.gov/SolidWasteForms.
