North Port Fire Rescue personnel are currently deployed in Texas, helping local crews battle a massive brush fire that has scorched nearly 90,000 acres west of Fort Worth. The fire, burning across Palo Pinto and Jack counties for almost two weeks, has required significant manpower from multiple states, including our own Suncoast first responders.
The Florida firefighters are working on the fire line, extinguishing hot spots and performing hand crew operations along a ridge line. It’s dangerous, physically demanding work that requires focus and endurance. They’re joined by crews from Sarasota County and departments from across the country, all coordinating to get this fire under control. Their two-week deployment is scheduled to wrap up with a return to Florida on Sept. 13.
It’s a powerful reminder that the brave men and women who protect our communities don’t just show up for local emergencies. When disaster strikes elsewhere in the country, they answer the call.
