A Sarasota man was killed Wednesday night when he was struck by a car driven by a North Port man. The Florida Highway Patrol says 68-year old George Stenza was improperly crossing Clark Road around 9 Wednesday night when he was hit. The driver, who was only identified as a 55-year old North Port man, was driving east on Clark Road in the center lane near Colonial Drive in Sarasota County. The driver tried to jam on his brakes, but could not stop in time- an FHP report says there was nearly 35 feet of skid marks in the road leading up to where the accident happened.
