Two people were critically injured in a crash in North Port Thursday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Corradino Boulevard. Police say a 2010 Toyota driven by 83-year-old Peggy Campbell of Venice was leaving the Island Walk subdivision, crossing the southbound lanes of U.S. 41. It drove into the path of a 2007 Nissan driven by 17-year-old Emily Bobenmoyer of North Port, with the Nissan hitting the Toyota in the driver’s side door. Campbell and a passenger were transported to the trauma center at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Bobenmoyer was taken to Venice Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Police say all three were wearing safety belts.
