A brush fire in North Port burned around 10 acres of vacant land late Sunday afternoon. Fire and rescue crews responded to the area of Havelock Avenue and Snover Avenue off of North Chamberlain Boulevard just before 3:15 p.m. Less than 90 minutes later, crews from North Port, Charlotte County and the Florida Forest Service had the blaze under control. They say it was likely started by an unattended campfire. No homes were ever threatened by the fire.
