North Port’s assistant police chief has been placed on administrative leave as of Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Mike Pelfrey has had a complaint filed against him, according to the city spokesman. Pelfrey has been with the city of North Port since October 2015. Prior to that he worked for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office for 26 years. Spokesman Josh Turner says Pelfrey is on paid leave, but did not elaborate on the complaint.
