City officials in North Port are asking the state to approve a new traffic signal in the West Villages.
The new light at 41 and West Villages Parkway, the city says, is needed to ease congestion as it is, much less the added cares that will be coming when the Braves spring training complex is completed.
In addition to the ballpark, the West Villages Marketplace- a plaza filled with shops and restaurants- is also being built along that stretch.
The city hopes to have the new traffic light and intersection improvements in place by the beginning of 2019.
