The North Port City Commission this week unanimously approved a five-year contract with Axon Enterprises, who will provide body cameras for 84 North Port police officers.
The Herald-Tribune reports the cameras North Port will be getting continuously record a 30-second loop until the officer switches it βonβ to preserve the audio and video capture.
Even if an officer fails to activate the camera, it automatically starts preserving both sound and video the moment the officer draws either a gun or a Taser.
The cameras are expected to be in place by the end of next month.
