The dock and observation deck at North Jetty Park in Venice will be permanently removed next week because the damage has made it unsafe for visitors. Hurricane Irma caused more damage on the heels of Tropical Storm Colin in 2016 and county officials have decided that removal is the most viable option. The continual tides are also causing problems, making the decision to remove the dock and deck the most logical step.
