The no swim advisory that had been in effect for Venice Beach has been lifted.

Around 5 last night, lifeguards switched the double red flags to a single one, meaning swimming conditions remain dangerous.

Making things worse, officials at Mote continue to report high levels of dead fish and “moderate” respiratory irritation due to red tide at the beach. Fish kills were reported over the weekend at 6 places in Sarasota County including Nokomis, Venice Beach, and the Venice North Jetty.
