A staple in Venice and a company synonymous with media ratings is laying off over 700 workers. Part of the layoffs for Nielsen Media Research Inc. include nearly 400 workers in North Venice in the near future. The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports 328 jobs will be lost in Oldsmar and 396 in Venice. The type of diary that Nielsen uses to determine ratings is being done away with, causing the layoffs.
