NORTH PORT, FL — Don’t miss out on two free events this Feb. 3! This is your chance to learn more about Sarasota County’s largest city at Newcomer Day; then stop over at Community Yard Sale to find a unique item or two to take home.

Newcomer Day

Newcomer Day, presented in partnership with the North Port Chamber of Commerce, is designed to connect residents with resources, programs and services within the community and is set-up in an expo-like format that includes information tables featuring local nonprofits, government entities and businesses. This event is the perfect chance for anyone interested in learning more about the North Port area, whether they have been here for a short time or for several years. Newcomer Day is being held from 10 a.m.-noon at the George Mullen Activity Center, located at 1602 Kramer Way.

Newcomer Day Registration: Non-profit organizations who would like to host a booth at this event can register by calling 941-429-PARK (7275) or complete and drop off an application to the George Mullen Activity Center that can be found online at NorthPortFL.gov/NewcomerDay. Local businesses can register for this event by contacting the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce at 941-564-3040.

Community Yard Sale

Community Yard Sale offers shoppers the chance to purchase household items, as well as support local business at the Crafter’s Corner. The Crafter’s Corner features handmade items from creative local vendors, giving attendees an opportunity to find one-of-a-kind items.

This is a great opportunity to socialize with your neighbors and find something special to take home with you. Community Yard Sale is being held from 8 a.m.-noon at the City Center Front Green, conveniently located in front of City Hall at 4970 City Hall Blvd. For more information, visit NorthPortFL.gov/YardSale.

Have something to sell? Vendors, crafters and artisans must register in advance to participate. To sign-up, stop by the Morgan Family Community Center or contact Parks & Recreation at 941-429-PARK (7275). Registration is open. The fee is $20 per space. Limited tables are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis at an additional fee of $10 per table.  At the time of this release, a few spaces remain available for vendors.
