The convenience store chain called Wawa has arrived in South Sarasota County. There was a grand opening Wednesday for a new Wawa in Venice at 2344 South Tamiami Trail at the intersection of State Road 776. It’s the company’s seventh store in Southwest Florida. That number is soon to be eight with the planned opening of a 2nd Wawa in Venice off Jacaranda Boulevard near Interstate 75 in early 2017. The Wawa that opened Wednesday boasts more than six-thousand square feet of retail space, plus new in-store graphics and, of course, gas pumps.
