Tuesday morning (Tomorro Morning May 10th at 0600 hours) the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and Punta Gorda Police Department Communications Centers will be transitioning to the new Airbus, Vesta 911 telephone system. This new telephone system consists of new hardware and software for 29 workstations combined between both centers and the backup facility and system network equipment. The new software provides some new and improved features for call takers and communications management. The new system also allows the ability for future next generation services such as text to 911. Text to 911 will not be immediately available but is made possible with this system.
