A 25-year-old Nashville man faces child neglect charges after police say his 4-month-old daughter was found alone in a running car near the Broadway bar district on Sunday evening. Officers spotted Jordan Hayley arguing outside Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar with the baby’s mother, who told them she was upset because she didn’t know where her child was.
The infant was discovered in the front seat in a baby seat facing the wrong direction. Hayley was arrested and charged with leaving an unattended child in a motor vehicle and child neglect, with bond set at $6,500 total. A court review is scheduled for Friday morning, and the baby has been reunited with her mother.
The case highlights how quickly a crowded nightlife area can distract from the most basic safety concerns. Leaving a child alone in a vehicle, even for a few minutes, is a serious legal matter with consequences that follow the family long after the night ends. What would you do if you saw an unattended child in a car in a busy bar district?
