The Punta Gorda Police Department has two new K-9 police dogs and is inviting children to help name them. Kids can cast ballots in the police department lobby until 4 p.m. Kids can also vote for the dogs’ names at Seven Palms from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and at Gulf Breeze from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the main offices. Officers will also be collecting votes at local day cares. Every child who votes gets a sticker encouraging civic involvement. The K-9s, both Labradors, will be formally introduced with their new names at tomorrow’s City Council meeting.
