The Sarasota County commission this week approved an agreement that would allow Mote Marine Laboratory to build a Science Education Aquarium at Nathan Benderson Park.
That’s the easy part- the next step is for both sides to do due diligence on working out a short-term lease. That could take up to a year.
Once the lease is settled, the two sides will then have to go through a land-use approval process, which could take up to three years.
