About 72 hours after the Sarasota County Commission approved agreement terms that would allow Mote Marine Laboratory to build a state-of-the-art aquarium at Nathan Benderson Park, Mote’s CEO announced that they had already secured more than $28M in donations and sponsorships for the project. In addition to that money, Mote has also requested a $20M financial commitment from the tourism development tax.
