More Americans took to the roads, air and railways this week for what is expected to be the busiest Thanksgiving travel period in almost a decade. Nearly 49 million people were expected to travel between Wednesday and Sunday, the most since 2007, because of lower gas prices and an improving economy, according to AAA.

The weather appeared to be travel friendly. According to transportaion officialsthere were no major delays on the road or in the air reported. For those who didn’t want to fly or drive, Amtrak was adding some extra trains through this Sunday, with most seats sold out before the holiday weekend.
