North Port City Manager Peter Lear has appointed Captain Chris Morales as Interim Police Chief. Current North Port Police Chief Kevin Vespia is set to retire next week. The City is searching for Chief Vespia’s permanent replacement through a national search firm. Captain Morales has agreed to stay in the role on a temporary basis until a candidate is found. Morales is not seeking the position permanently. The move will go into effect April 1, 2018.
