South Florida Museum’s Parker Aquarium has a new director, and she told the Herald-Tribune as the leader of the aquarium, her goal is to teach visitors what affects manatees in the wild and the things they can do to protect them. Virginia Edmonds was previously an animal care manager at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa. She said simply knowing more about manatees will save their lives and protect the species. Edmonds is the museum’s first new staff member since the death of Snooty The Manatee back in July.
