ENGLEWOOD, FL- Coastal Engineering Consultants is conducting the oversee of the Gulf beach re-nourishment project on Manasota Key in Sarasota and Charlotte counties. The initial project proposes to discharge 1,009,000 cubic yards of beach compatible sand to restore the critically eroding shoreline of Manasota Key between R175 (Sarasota County) to R15.4 (Charlotte County).
An artificial hard-bottom reef to replace a stretch of natural areas covered with sand is required as part of the nourishment project. Two reefs, one 4.2 acres and another 1.8 acre, just north and south of the Englewood Beach will be constructed. Construction on the reef is scheduled to begin this week.
