Deputies with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who posed as an employee of the sheriff’s in order to steal four iPads from the Port Charlotte Wal-Mart. On Monday, officials say the man went into the store, identified himself as an officer, and showed a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office business card. He then gave a clerk a fake receipt for the iPads and walked out. He is described as a black male in his 20s with short hair and no facial hair- at the time, he was dressed in a blue shirt and tie with black slacks and escaped in a silver Chevy Tahoe. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office.
