PORT CHARLOTTE, FL

A 47-year-old Port Charlotte man was hit by a car and passed away at a hospital on Friday night. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:53 p.m. when a 71-year-old Port Charlotte woman was driving an SUV northbound on U.S. 41 near West Ellicott Circle. The man sustained severe injuries from the SUV collision and was taken to Fawcett Hospital, where he was later declared deceased. Neither the woman nor her 7-year-old passenger from Port Charlotte sustained physical injuries. The authorities are currently investigating the crash.
