Solaris Healthcare says its facility in Port Charlotte has no safety risk following today’s apparent murder-suicide.
The sheriff’s office says someone found 81-year-old Frank Kavanaugh and 88-year-old Barbara Kavanaugh dead on the floor in a patient room early this morning.
Authorities say both died from gunshot wounds.
WINK-TV has identified the couple as a right-to-die advocate and his wife.
Barbara Kavanaugh suffered from dementia. She entered Solaris earlier this year.
Frank Kavanaugh served as an advisory board member for the Final Exit Network, a national group supporting “the human right to a death with dignity.”
