A 25-year-old man is headed to prison and will never be allowed to drive again after a DUI crash from 2015 that killed a woman and injured several others. The Sarasota accident happened the night after a party that William Patrick Russell attended. Russell was driving home and hit a vehicle that itself hit two other cars. Russell fled the scene and then called police and told them about the crash. Russell’s blood-alcohol was .07, which is under the legal limit. However, because of the time that had elapsed police believed it was closer to .01 at the time of the crash. Russell pleaded no contest to a manslaughter charge and was sentenced to four years in prison, followed by four years of probation.
