A 50-year old man remains hospitalized after being attacked by an alligator while diving for golf balls. It happened around 1pm Friday near the Palms Golf Course at Rotonda Golf and Country Club. The man had been hired to clear the lake for stray golf balls. Police say he was able to free himself from the alligator’s grip and get back on land. He was airlifted from the golf course to Lee Memorial Hospital. His wounds, while serious, are not thought to be life-threatening.
